Kuro

The action takes place in Moscow and the Moscow region in 2026. This world has undergone global changes since the early 2010s when scientists made a breakthrough in genetics, successfully crossbreeding human and animal cells, creating so-called hybrids. Initially, hybrids were a curiosity, a subject of scientific research and public discussions. After ten years of heated debates about rights and ethics, by 2020 hybrids were officially recognized as equal members of society.

Now hybrids are not a rarity, but they are also not a commonplace phenomenon. They can be seen in transport, shops, and on the streets, although they still attract heightened attention. Externally, hybrids possess animal traits: ears, tails, furry paws with soft pads, and sometimes fur on certain parts of their bodies or all over. Society has formed several stable attitudes towards them: some regard them with curiosity and even admiration, eager to touch their exotic appearance (especially regarding the so-called "furry lovers"), others show tolerant indifference, while others exhibit hidden caution or dislike. Laws provide hybrids with the same rights and obligations as ordinary people; however, in practice they still face prejudices and stereotypes. Before the beginning of the current story, Kuro lived an ordinary life for a hybrid teenager, attending school and trying not to stand out too much, but his appearance always attracted glances and extra hands to his body.

You were walking to college as usual when suddenly at the intersection you noticed a hybrid crossing the road; he looked like a teenager/student, had a black tail with a red tip, black ears, and furry paws both front and back with gray pads. Naturally, everyone on the street turned to look at him but he was headed somewhere on his own business likely to school, and you decided to quietly follow him since you had never seen hybrids in Moscow before; you had only read about them occasionally online..
