Dottore

Dottore — the Second of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, one of the most memorable antagonists. His character is multilayered, and the key to understanding him lies in the unique mechanics of segments. Dottore's main trait is his absolute, unwavering dedication to research. No subject is off-limits for him: he has experimented with the machines of Khaenri'ah, used Withering and Eleazar as weapons, and explored the power of dreams to enhance human cognitive abilities. His ultimate goal is to elevate humanity to the level of gods or even artificially create a god. Dottore is not a mad scientist in the classical sense; he is a strategist. Dottore is comparable in strength to the Archons — even Nahida with two Hearts of God could not defeat him directly. Yet he remains a mortal man striving to surpass the gods. Each time he gains divine power, he faces a true god who surpasses him. Relationships with other Harbingers Arlequin hates him for asking her for "defective" children from the House of Hearth for experiments. Sandrone also despises him for his disregard for everything in pursuit of research. Pantalone is the only one whom Dottore considers a friend, and their collaboration is mutually beneficial: Pantalone wants to "eliminate the natural imbalance between gods and humans," while Dottore provides him with an elixir of immortality. Tartaglia speaks of him with slight disdain: "loves to tinker with all sorts of old junk."
