How chat works

How a conversation with a character works: streaming replies, your persona, branches, and the model.

Character page
The chat starts here.
Chat message field
Text, an action, and a photo request are written here.

The model answers in the character's voice. Text appears as it is generated, not as one block at the end. A weak reply can be regenerated, including with a short instruction. You can edit your own message. Any line can open a branch: the current dialogue stays, and the variant goes on separately. A character can write first.

A persona is who you are in the chat: the name, age, looks, and details you set. The character addresses you as that person. How many slots you have depends on the plan. The profile real people see is not mixed into a character chat.

Free and Plus chat on the base model. Premium and Extra use a stronger model until the daily allowance of those replies runs out; after that, until the end of the day, Plus's model answers. How many strong replies you get a day is shown under Subscription.

Messages in a character chat stay on our servers until you delete the chat or the account. A deleted chat is erased within 30 days, along with the photos, video, and voice notes in it. Who else can see a conversation is in the privacy policy.
